as the she-cat carried the kit through the weird and mysterious forest of shadows and lies. made it over a large yet small river. and through the caves and secret passages. Nightpool had brought kona to the safety of her den. she put the kit down. kona walked over to some moss bedding and went limp, as did nightpool. the adult she-cat then stood back up, and looked at kona, *yes, sleep now my little kit. you have a journey ahead of you, i can see it now.* nightpool thought. and padded away as she noticed her prey stock was empty.
as kona tried to sleep, she just couldn't get comfortable. the bedding felt as if there was a giant rock in the bedding, and tiny bugs nipping at her pelt. and then she opened her eyes seeing nightpool missing, and shut her eyes again. and then, the bedding began to move, the she-kit whailed. "stop moving!" and then something came out from the bedding, and layed right on her pelt. she opened her eyes, wide and round. and then stood up right away. and the thing on her pelt's head fell with a thud, and whailed.
"hey, that hurt!". kona quickly turned around, as did the thing. and they both were both face-to-face. suddenly. they both screamed and hid behind small boulders in the cave. the both peeked their heads out curiously. and both walked out from behind their boulders.
and kona was again, face-to-face with the thing.....it...it was another kit! except, half of its face was hard as a rock......bare, a skull. kona looked back-and-forth and the parts of his face. half skull, half fur. his dark pelt made him even more frightning. kona speaked first. "hey, who are you? nightpool wouldn't be happy of you trespassing.
"me, trespassing? i think it is you who is trespassing. and nightpool knows me. i'm her kit!" he snapped at kona.
"whats your name, trespasser?" "my name is Kona, what about you?" "my name is Deadface."
the two kits seemed to get along, in a sort of competitive way. later that day. nightpool returned to see her son and kona missing, she had dropped the 2 pieces of prey she had got, and ran out her den. panicking, she looked all around her den. and franticly turned her head back and forth. and then she heard splashes of water and tiny mews. half relived, she ran toward the river which she had crossed when taking kona to her den. she ran up there to see the two kittens swimming in the river. she ran down and snatched them both up in her jaws. and sat them down on the bank, trying to pad them dry. "what were you 2 kits thinking! my den is well-hidden but it still lurks with predators!" her son looked up at his mother. "i'm sorry, we were having a swimming contest to see who has the best skills." angry at both of the kits. she said in a calm mew "i know you two just met and were just curious of each other, but i can take you practicing on a day your used to the territory and we are in a safe place." she carried them both back up to her den, "now, chew on some of this squirrel i just caught. you need to restore your energy." "okay." the kits said in a stretched out mew....."and then you both need some rest." after the kits ate, they lied down on the moss bedding.nightpool then curled up around them, and fell right asleep.
